There’s that little dog that thinks and acts like a big dog.  This dog is known to be the yorkie-poo breed, a new breed from the Yorkshire terrier and the poodle.  Despite its tiny size, its behavior and perception of itself as a big dog makes the yorkie-poo a great watch dog.

What a Yorkie Poo puppy looks like

A yorkie-poo is anywhere in between the range of four (4) to ten (10) pounds when it has achieved its full size.  Usually, it tips the scale between six (6) to eight (8) pounds.  The eyes can be almond-shaped or round with animated expression.  It has a black nose while the ears may either be taken from the Yorkshire terrier that stand up or from the poodle that drop down.

It can come in a single color of black, or a combination of black and tan or black and white, or tri-color of black, tan, and white or red, apricot, and white.  Most who have seen the breed will usually regard it as a well-proportioned dog.

Looking Into The Personality

The yorkie-poo breed inherited the traits of both the Yorkshire terrier and the poodle more on the best traits than not.  It has gotten the charms and loyalty of the Yorkshire terrier as well as the intelligence and spirited behavior of the poodle.

Another plus trait for this breed is that the yorkie-poo rarely sheds that is favorable to owners with allergies.  This dog is an improved version of its parents in terms of health as there are no known health problems taken from either parent.  You can expect the dog to live up to fifteen (15) years.

The dog likes it when it is cuddled, and it is very playful while gentle making it a wonderful pet for kids.  Since it remains at its tiny size with the same sweet expression of the face, the yorkie-poo is dubbed by most as the ‘perpetual puppy’.

How to Take Care of the Yorkie-Poo

Taking good care of the yorkie-poo is fairly easy.  As it is a non-shedding breed, you do not have to take extra attention in grooming the coat.  Regularly brushing the silky soft and smooth coat is beneficial and getting the coat trimmed quarterly will maintain the charming looks of the breed.

Giving your yorkie-poo nutritious and well-balanced diet will maintain the good health.  Avoid table scraps as it can have some adverse effects to your dog’s health.  Since this breed is active and full of life, taking it for a walk proves to be advantageous to his health and disposition.

This breed can be relatively stubborn when you allow your dog to be one.  But the stubbornness can be corrected with training as it also easily responds to and obeys commands.  One thing about this breed is that it can run extremely fast.

The yorkie-poo puppy is feisty and brave despite its size.  Unlike other breeds, it doesn’t coward to those that are larger than it is.  The dog strongly sees itself as a ‘big dog’ and acts just as daring and bold as the naturally big dogs do.  If you want a companion and watch dog at the same time, this breed is what you may be looking for
